Wilier Filante SLR ID2 SRAM Force AXS Disc Road Bike
Be your fastest. In the theater of speed, only you exist.
Filante SLR ID2 represents the definitive evolution of Wilier's aerodynamic road bikes. Developed in collaboration with Groupama - FDJ Cycling Team, every detail is designed around you and reflects way of experiencing speed. Lightweight, responsive, and extremely aerodynamic, the Filante SLR ID2 redefines performance standards, putting you at the center of every design choice. Aerodynamics is not an end in itself, but is at the service of the rider, offering maximum efficiency, comfort, and control in all conditions.
Speed, innovation, and Italian tradition come together in a bike designed to enhance your riding experience—the fastest in the WorldTour.
A new aero benchmark on the market
Rigorous testing in the Silverstone wind tunnel has taken an ambitious project beyond all expectations. The verdict was extraordinary: a 13.6% reduction in drag, exceeding the 12% estimated by CFD simulations. In the complete bike-rider system — which has always been central to Wilier recorded a 4.5% improvement in aerodynamic resistance.
The comparison with the Filante SLR ID1 highlights tangible and significant advantages: maintaining the same speed of 40 km/h, you save a remarkable 14.15 watts of power. Even more impressive is the distance data: delivering the same power of 290 W over a distance of 70 km, you gain 1 minute and 45 seconds, a margin that makes all the difference in competition. The decisive test came in a direct comparison with the five top-of-the-range World Tour competitors: an average aerodynamic drag coefficient that is 2.42% better. At modern cycling speeds, this difference means seconds gained and concrete advantages in the race.
Integrated innovation: the Aerokit system
The down tube, which has always been one of the most complex areas from a design point of view, was developed with a specific goal in mind: to have minimal aerodynamic drag and reduce the exposure of the water bottles to the air as much as possible.
The Aerokit system was designed with this in mind by Innovation Lab together with Elite Cycling, a world leader in the design and manufacture of hydration systems for cycling. This collaboration has resulted in a kit that combines functionality and performance: 1100 ml of total capacity, optimally distributed and with minimal aerodynamic impact.
From a technical point of view, the Aerokit works like a real spoiler, capable of keeping the air more stable and less disturbed around the frame. The Aerokit is also compatible with traditional round water bottles: 550 ml on the down tube and up to 750 ml on the seat tube.
F-Bar ID2: aerodynamic cockpit for superior control and comfort
The new F-Bar ID2 is an aerodynamic cockpit developed around the needs of the modern cyclist, thanks to the joint work of engineers and athletes from the Groupama – FDJ Cycling Team.
For the first time on a Wiliera product, maximum efficiency and control in all riding conditions. The O.E.F. (Optimized Ergonomic Flare) design introduces a
3 cm orthogonal flare between the low and high grip (available in 35/38 cm, 37/40 cm, and 39/42 cm) which, unlike other handlebars with different widths, maintains the ergonomics of the controls, ensuring a natural, comfortable, and compact position to further improve aerodynamic performance.
For the first time on a Wilier product, the handlebar mounting hardware is completely hidden, improving aesthetics, protection from dirt and sweat, and aerodynamic performance — all in full compliance with the latest UCI regulations.
Fork: true aerodynamic efficiency in the details
For the design of the fork, analyzed numerous NACA profiles, aerodynamic shapes derived from aeronautics and mathematically defined to ensure maximum efficiency in airflow. Each profile has been completely incorporated into the right-hand chainstay: a completely new solution for Wilier products under real conditions of use.
The result is a fork with NACA external profile chainstays and a flat internal profile. The fork head cone is even more pronounced than on the Filante SLR, ensuring greater torsional rigidity combined with superior stress resistance.
The left fork leg incorporates a thin aerodynamic wing that skims the disc and wraps around the brake caliper: a partial fairing already successfully tested on the Supersonica SLR, now further refined.
Finally, the thru-axle clamping bushing has been completely incorporated into the right chainstay: a completely new solution for Wilier products, combining aesthetic elegance, clean lines, and a tangible benefit in terms of aerodynamics.
The seatpost that combines efficiency and lightness
With the experience gained in developing the Supersonica SLR, already had the right formula in laboratories: a balance between aesthetics, lightness, and comfort.
The new Filante SLR ID2 seatpost is the result of this recipe, with a slim, sharp profile that optimizes aerodynamic penetration without compromising rigidity and ensuring good vertical vibration absorption. Available as standard with 0 offset or, on request, with 15 mm setback.
Rear triangle: aesthetic continuity, technical evolution
Wilier chose to preserve the family feeling with the previous Filante, maintaining wide rear stays that are inserted into the seat tube through a broken line, giving the frame a bold character when viewed from behind.
At a glance, they may seem similar to the ID1 version, but in reality they have been redesigned in every detail. The dynamic interactions between the stays and the movement of the legs during pedaling led us to a counterintuitive solution: tilting the stays inward by 2.5°.
The rear triangle has been slightly lengthened: a choice that allows for better integration of the new drivetrain groups with UDH dropouts, increases tire clearance (up to 34 mm), and improves the overall stability of the bike.
Weight and materials: the essence of speed is in balance
For an aero frame, the starting point is always the search for a balance between aerodynamics, stiffness, and responsiveness. It is not a question of pursuing extreme lightness, but of achieving maximum efficiency at high speeds, ensuring a precise and stable response in all riding conditions, while still allowing for assemblies that are just above the UCI limits. To achieve this monocoque, the choice of materials is crucial. Have also used the highest quality composites for the Filante SLR ID2, the result of collaboration with Toray, a world leader in carbon fiber production. Three types of fibers are used for the monocoque lamination—T800, T1100, and M46JB—selected and mixed together to best combine responsiveness, stiffness, and lightness, for a total weight of 7.1 kg in the Dura Ace Di2 specification.
